LIVE UPDATE from our #BigCatPhotoSafari to Sabi Sand, South Africa.
By Specialist Photographic Guide Lance van de Vyver.
Our guests arrived in the Sabi Sands excited for their Big Cat Photo Safari. After a light lunch and briefing, we headed out in search of leopards and lions. We bumped into a herd of 100 or so buffalo before heading to female leopard Tlalamba. She was busy feeding on a scrub hare when we got to her.
We spent the next 2 hours with her as she ate her meal before moving off and resting on a bank. The sun had set and allowed us to use flash photography to capture images with a purple sky in the background. When we arrived back at camp we found female leopard Thandi inside camp in the parking lot, sitting under an aloe tree.
This morning we left camp and almost immediately bumped into Tlalamba again. She was on the move.
We followed her as she climbed over fallen trees and attempted, unsuccessfully attempted to catch some scrub hares. She gave us a few lovely photographic opportunities this morning which is unusual for her as she normally moves very quickly.
We then caught up with the Nkuhuma pride as they were just resting up for the day. They had 2 small cubs with them who are very cute. We managed to get some images of the little ones before they went to sleep. We then stopped for coffee on Balanites road and were joined by some buffalo bulls. After a lovely coffee, we headed back to camp for breakfast and some photographic training.
