LIVE UPDATE from our #BigCatPhotoSafari to Sabi Sand, South Africa.
By Specialist Photographic Guides Lance van de Vyver and Villiers Steyn.
Its day 3 on our current safari and a large cold front has descended into the lowveld, bringing cold and blustery weather with it. This has certainly had an effect on our sightings. We still had some fantastic sightings yesterday afternoon. We made our way to the lion den and found the three tiny cubbies in the open with mum. It was a beautiful scene to photograph.
We then managed to track down Tingana, but in typical big cat fashion, he was enjoying a snooze in the chilly weather. When he eventually woke up, we lost him in minutes as he entered a rather impenetrable area of bush.
This morning the wind was icy and the animals were scarce. We did manage to fins female leopard Thandi, far on the other side of the boundary in a tree with a kill. After following up on Tingana we had no luck in finding him, although we did see a hyena along the way.
We also did some bush walking and photographed white rhino and giraffe on foot. A quiet morning but a great experience nonetheless.
