LIVE UPDATE from our #BigCatPhotoSafari to Sabi Sand, South Africa.
By Specialist Photographic Guides Lance van de Vyver and Villiers Steyn.
Yesterday afternoon, as we were leaving camp for drive, we heard various animals alarm calling nearby. We immediately headed there and soon found leopard tracks all over and began tracking. We had female and male tracks and soon realised that a male leopard was following another male, and, we caught up with the leader, Hosana.
He was moving off quickly as his father, Tingana, was not far behind busy calling repeatedly. We managed to get some great images of him on termite mounds as he moved between them.
Two cheetah were then spotted just behind camp and we made our way there quickly. We found them just as the sun was dropping but managed to get some shots of them as they moved through the bush. We headed home happily, having now seen all three big cat species.
This morning we headed north in search of lions but bumped into the the two cheetah again. This time they were close to some water. They went for a drink and gave us all a great opportunity to get some images of them. They were frightened by some monkeys and they ran into the bush.
We stopped for coffee on First Rock in Torchwood before making our way home. As we got to the Vuyatela waterhole, we found Hosana stalking some Nyala. We stayed with him for 30 mins before he lay down and went to sleep.
