LIVE UPDATE from our #BigCatPhotoSafari to Sabi Sand, South Africa.
By Specialist Photographic Guide Lance van de Vyver.
Yesterday afternoon we headed out and tried to find leopards. On our way we bumped into the Nkuhuma pride with their two small cubs. We photographed them for a short while and then carried on the search for leopards. We soon found leopard tracks.
We dropped off our tracker to follow up on the tracks and while he was busy we went back to the lion cubs to catch some golden light. After time with the lions we had a drinks break and on the way home we bumped into a leopard crossing west out of our property. We also saw a massive herd of buffalo close to camp.
Whilst enjoying a dinner in the boma under the stars, we heard a commotion in front of camp. Lions were attacking some buffalo. We grabbed our spotlights and watched an amazing scene unfold. The lions caught a buffalo and were on its back when the herd managed to chase them off. The lions then ran after the buffalo and managed to catch another one right in front of our rooms. We then spent the next 25 minutes on the deck of one of the rooms watching the lions bring the buffalo down before killing and starting to eat it. Next moment, a second male lion began roaring nearby as he entered the scene. What a rush and amazing experience, right in front of camp.

This morning, we started right in front of camp with the lions. The buffalo has nearly been completely eaten and an Avoca Male was busy feeding before he left the carcass for the females to have a chance. We tried some low-key photography on the lions.
We then got a call that some wild dogs were seen nearby and made our way there. We found them as they were finishing off an impala kill. We managed to get a few nice hi-key images of the dogs before having a coffee break and then coming back to camp for breakfast.
