The cold front and chilly weather didn’t affect our guests’ spirits as they arrived at the Black Rhino Private Game Reserve, ready and eager for our Wildlife Photography Essentials Workshop.
After a light lunch we jumped straight into the first lecture, photography basics. Guests learnt essentials such as the exposure triangle, camera settings and shooting modes found on DSLR cameras. Our guests were hungry for knowledge and we shared a great discussion and insight with them.
After our lecture we headed out on a very overcast and chilly drive but were determined to see what we could find. As luck would have it, and within ten minutes, we found a pride of four lions on a freshly killed wildebeest. Our guests managed to get some fantastic shots of the lions just as the sun broke the proverbial ice. What a great start.
After adding rhino to the list, we stopped for some sundowners and snacks while we got to know one another before making our way back to the lodge. Along the way, we found some scrub hares which provided a great opportunity for our guests to try their hands at spotlight photography. With some help they achieved some amazing results.
We arrived back at the lodge to a warm fire and some hot soup before tucking into a great meal and getting to know one another. Tomorrow morning we will head out early to see what else we can find in this magical place.
