Location

Buffalo Thorn Game Lodge, Black Rhino Private Game Reserve.

Buffalo Thorn Lodge is the ideal location for a luxurious bushveld breakaway. Situated in the Black Rhino Private Game Reserve means we can traverse a restricted part of Pilanesberg that the general public may not access.

The exclusive Buffalo Thorn Lodge is a hidden treasure set amongst the trees of an old Tamboti forest at the foot of an ancient volcanic crater, that today comprises one of South Africa’s most exciting Big 5 eco-tourism destinations, the greater Pilanesberg National Park. It is from here, accompanied by your dedicated At Close Quarters Photographic Guide and personal game ranger, that you will be able explore a 58 000ha malaria free wildlife wonderland and discover the magic of the African bush.

The Lodge is built between a Tamboti forest, overlooking a busy waterhole, which is a hive of bird and animal activity, and a playground for the elephant. On many occasions, the stillness of the night is broken by the roaring of lions, and francolins sing the morning wake up call.

Awakened with a hot cup of coffee, your ACQ photographic guide, together with an experienced ranger, will take you out on an exceptional game drive through the Private Black Rhino Reserve, into the unexplored valleys of the Pilanesberg and the 200km network of roads criss-crossing the Reserve.
